Trent University food-service workers reach tentative agreement

New deal affects 110 workers at Ontario institution

A tentative settlement on a new collective agreement for Trent food-service workers was reached Jan. 31 between Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 3205 members and Compass Group Canada, which operates as Chartwells at Trent University in Peterborough, Ont.

The new agreement will come into effect pending ratification, said the union.

CUPE said it will hold a ratification vote for its members. The union did not disclose details of the tentative settlement until members have had the opportunity to review its contents and vote on the agreement, according to CUPE.

Chartwells is one of nine food-service providers working with Trent University and provides food service on the Symons Campus. CUPE 3205, represents approximately 110 food-service employees employed by Compass Group Canada at Trent.
