Copperleaf, Carebook and InvestorCOM are among the top small and medium employers for 2020, according to Mediacorp, which runs the competition.

Employers were evaluated using a variety of criteria: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.

Winning programs
Copperleaf Technologies, provider of decision analytics solutions, offers signing bonuses for some workers, year-end bonuses for all and referral bonuses of up to $2,500 along with company contributions to a retirement savings plan. It also provides maternity and parental leave top-up payments for new parents of up to 100 per cent of salary for up to six weeks, and offers the convenience of onsite childcare. Copperleaf also maintains a health and wellness committee and recently launched a HealthFlex program, an annual spending account that employees can use for related expenses such as gym memberships.

Digital pharmacy platform Carebook Technologies encourages ongoing professional development through online training and tuition subsidies of up to $4,000 annually for courses at outside academic institutions. As part of Humania Assurance's health plan, employees receive a health spending account of up to $800 annually that lets them tailor their health coverages to suit their needs. The company provides employees with a defined benefit pension plan as well as a health benefits plan that extends to retirees, with employee-paid premiums. It also provides tuition subsidies for courses related and not directly related to their workers’ position.
